For Mr. Piu Ong: Thank you for your comments. The acceptance rate for UP is understandably lower in light of the sheer number of applicants, particularly in the popular courses. The rate was previously much lower due to the strict quota system in favor of qualified students from lower income brackets, but has since been increasing since this was opened up. Nevertheless, as a subsidized institution, there remains a preference/allotment for students, like those from the provinces, who deserve a good education at a relatively low cost. Still, Xavier School continues to improve its curriculum and methodology to ensure the best preparation for college education for our graduates and increase their chances of acceptance into the university of their choice.

Greetings,

I graduated in 1971 and went to Ateneo for my undergraduate. I will always remeber our school administrators, and my teachers who gave me a good education. :)

I have always wondered what the statistics are for our students’ application to the differenct universities, and I find the summary in the article, “PAASCU Accreditation Crucial to School Credibility” interesting. I also noticed that our acceptance rate to UP is much lower. Do we know why? It might be good to do a study to understand why and identify opportunities for improvement. There is always room for improvement.

Cheers,
Piu Ong
