Xavier FLIPS OUT!

Just when you think next week is going to be just another uneventful week of preparation for class opening, THINK AGAIN!

Flip Out! Video Competition

Xavier School announces the launch of “FLIP OUT!”–a video competition among our teachers and staff to capture the frenzy of the last week of class preparation.  Trust Xavier to think of an awesome way to spice up the last week before classes!

But there’s more to the contest than just fun:  It’s also an opportunity for the school community to learn how to use the FLIPCAMS, the newly purchased video cameras that we hope our students will use to collaborate with one another in creating and communicating what they will learn.

In his talks during the Parents’ Orientation, Fr. Johnny Go, the School Director, spoke of the 5 8’s (”-ate’s”) of 21st-century student-centered learning that we hope to promote in Xavier School:

  • To LOCATE Content
  • To INTERROGATE Content
  • To CREATE Content
  • To COMMUNICATE Content, and
  • To COLLABORATE with one another

Each unit will be asked to submit one 30-second “flip” to capture the last week of class preparation in Xavier School.  Good luck to the Early Education, Primary, Intermediate, and High School, and Central Administration! The contest is organized by the NExT Team.

Here’s how the contest will go…
