RICCO-RENZO GALLERIES in cooperation with SM SUPERMALLS and CHANNEL [V] PHILIPPINES and RJ TV & RJ 100FM, presents “ICONS of ROCK: The Birth of Legends”. The roving group exhibit kicked off with a bang last friday, May 7, 2010 at The Cyberzone, 4F SM City North EDSA Annex, Quezon City and will touch down in selected SM Malls. Organized by Simkin de Pio of the XS Art Department, with works by Sherwin Coronado, GS Social Science teacher, the show, curated by Nilo Ilarde, features a broad range of Filipino contemporary artists and their renditions of both local and foreign rock and roll icons. The show will hold its grand finale at SM Megamall on July 19-23.A handful of our very own pinoy brand of rock and roll namely Bobby Balingit of The Wuds, Carol Bello of Pinikpikan Kalayo, Tao Aves, and Lirio Salvador rocked the floor with their Richter-rattling vocals and instrumentals.  Channel [V] Philippines covered the launch and interviewed both the artists and performers and will be airing it on their [V] Scene segment; watch out for it on Skycable channel 25.  Guests of honor who cut the ribbon were Dr. Reuben Ramas Cañete, Gig de Pio, and Mr. Bobby Balingit.Everyone is invited to come to the opening of the 3rd out of 9 venues, 6PM @ SM Southmall, Alabang, this Friday, May 28, 2010.  See you all there!
