Grade 6 Recollection: A Commitment to the Community

It is tradition in the Grade 6 Recollection to include class commitments where the entire class promises to do something for themselves and the community, especially for the selected partner institution in the service interaction. This was the perfect opportunity for the class to bond and at the same time show compassion.

Grade 6A, the first section to undergo the service interaction and recollection, was the first to carry out one of  its commitments. The students went back to their partner institution bringing goods they collected and donated. The class held this commitment outreach last January. The visit was co-organized by H3 student Ryan Carl Yu, who was part of the 2005-2006 6A class that started the tradition of going back to the partner institution to bring donations and to spend time with the children there.

Just this month of March, 6C, 6G, and 6H have, as part of their commitment, also gone back to their partner institutions bringing donations and playing games with their old partners. They brought a variety of goods such as old books and clothes, canned goods, slippers, and even old toys. The other grade 6 sections  collected cash donations which they have forwarded to their partner institutions through the Campus Ministry and Service Office (CMSO).

Mr. Vergel Domingo, head of the CMSO, saw for himself how dedicated the classes were in making sure that their commitments were carried out. He and the Grade 6 teachers, especially the class advisers, are proud of the grade 6 students for their hard work, time spent with their partners, and their utmost dedication to fulfilling their commitment.
