Xavier Bowler Wins Inaugural Tournament

img_5755_tim.jpg2010 is turning out to be a great year for Xavier bowling. Timothy Hung copped his second championship of the year, winning the Graded Division in the inaugural Philippine Bowling Congress Youth Bi-Monthly Championships held last February 7 at Paeng’s Mid-Town Bowl in Manila.

On the heels of his victory in January, Hung bowled a five-game series of 997 (199 average) to become the Classified Division Champion and to claim his first national title. In his second game, Hung was a mere two strikes away from a perfect 300 game, bowling 9 strikes (including 8 consecutive) to claim the lead. He never looked back as his lead was not threatened despite him playing a low game of 145.

It could have been a multiple celebration for the team as Markyn Kho and Kirk Dychiao also bowled well. Both, however, placed a fighting 5th in their respective divisions.

The tournament, which will have five more installments this year, will reward the bowlers with the most points earned for the year with invitations to the youth national team. That’s why the Xavier Bowling Team, with the generous support of the AAXS Bowling Club, hopes to keep up the great performances throughout 2010.
