DepEd officials visited Xavier School on Nov. 18 (Wed) on an Inspection Visit, a requirement before the school is granted the permit to implement the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP)* for next SY 2010 - 2011. This permit is also a requirement by the IBO before the applicant school can be issued the official authorization.

Conducting the inspection for the department was  Dr. Restituto Lomeda, Chief, Bureau of Secondary Education of DepEd NCR, and the Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Secondary Education, Dr. Gloria Alday. This visit is another step forward for the smooth introduction of the IBDP next school year. The initial response was positive. The officials not only expressed satisfaction with the school’s programs and facilities, they also proposed to bring other DepEd officials to visit Xavier School as a model school in terms of innovations in basic education.

*Xavier Scool is a candidate school* for the Diploma Programme. The school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Xavier School believes is important for our students.

Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) as IB World Schools can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme. Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IBO and its programmes, visit http://www.ibo.org.
