It’s A-Day! A Salute to the Top ‘Chers!

It has been an annual tradition that the school community sets aside one day to show appreciation for all the faculty and staff of Xavier School. The much-awaited “A-Day 09” was celebrated last Friday, September 25.  Like every year’s celebration, this year was unforgettable–not just the celebrations organized by the students in the morning, but also the yearly celebration among the faculty and staff.

The Grade School and High School observed a half-day schedule for the students with their respective Student Councils taking care of the morning activities. In the afternoon, a contest dubbed “ TOP ‘CHER ” was held at the High School Multi-Purpose Hall (HS MPH), from 1:00-4:00 p.m.  The program, a parody of the top-rating culinary reality show “Top Chef,” was a tongue-in-cheek pageant that featured a brave group of interesting personalities who showcased their style, wit, charm, and talent.  Like every A-Day celebration, the competition was as much a competition among the contestants as among the different units who tried to outdo one another with their cheering.

Watch out for photos of the unforgettable event with a wide range of unconventional and unexpected performances that filled the MPH with much cheering and laughter.  As Fr. Johnny Go SJ said to the Grade School community during the Eucharistic Celebration that morning: “The best faculty and staff of Xavier School, like God, bring out the best in the students.”  That was exactly what happened during the afternoon’s A-Day Celebration.  It was truly a celebration of the spirit that defines the unique Xavier School Community Spirit.

Many, many thanks to Rey Aude, EJ Legaspi, and their crew who spent sleepless nights to deliver yet another unforgettable and meaningful celebration for the Xavier community.

Happy A-Day to all!
