Last Aug. 26, the High 4 students, along with all other high school seniors nationwide, took the National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE). Unlike the NCEE that was discontinued in 1994, this exam measures two other domains: technical-vocational aptitude and entrepreneurial skills; and is used only for recommendation purposes in career guidance.
Specifically, the objectives of the NCAE are: 1) to assess the abilities the examinee has acquired in secondary school, preparatory to post secondary courses and jobs 2) to provide information that will help high school seniors make wise career decisions and 3) provide bases for selecting scholarship awardees and recipients of study grants from CHED and TESDA.The exam was given in eight parts scheduled throughout the day to test an individual’s scientific ability, reading comprehension, verbal ability, mathematical ability, clerical ability, manipulative skills, non-verbal ability, and entrepreneural skills. The results are usually released by January.
