The photographs of Patrick Uy (77) taken during his visit to the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan are showcased in a special exhibit at the Grand Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, from July 29-August 2, 2009. This alumnus is also a Xavier parent and is a highly regarded professional photographer. (The exhibit has been extended to August 5 (Wed).
The exhibit, titled Bhutan: The Last Shangri-La, features colorful images of the people of Bhutan shot during the coronation celebrations of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the 5th Druk Gyalpo (Thunder Dragon King).
Bhutan is located east of Tibet, between China and India, and its capital is Thimpu. It has a land area of 38,394 sq.km. and a population of just over 670,000. The predominant religion is Mahayama Buddhism.
