Patrick Uy (77) Brings Bhutan to Manila

The photographs of Patrick Uy (77) taken during his visit to the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan are showcased in a special exhibit at the Grand Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, from July 29-August 2, 2009. This alumnus is also a Xavier parent and is a highly regarded professional photographer. (The exhibit has been extended to August 5 (Wed). mime-attachment-3.jpegThe exhibit, titled Bhutan: The Last Shangri-La, features colorful images of the people of Bhutan shot during the coronation celebrations of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the 5th Druk Gyalpo (Thunder Dragon King).

mime-attachment-4.jpegBhutan is located east of Tibet, between China and India, and its capital is Thimpu. It has a land area of 38,394 sq.km. and a population of just over 670,000. The predominant religion is Mahayama Buddhism.
