The incoming Stallion Editorial Board for school year 2009-2010 had their annual planning and team-building activity on May 15 to 16 at the Early Education Department (EED) Formation Center.

Discussed in detail by the new Board were the various project proposals for upcoming projects, contests and workshops. These were then calendared and finalized on the second day.

At the start of the workshop, Stallion Filipino moderator Mr. Patrick Alcantara talked about leadership and organizational management; while Stallion English Moderator Mr. Adrian Dy laid out pointers for student journalism and student publications. Mr. Noel Reyes, a Xavier alumnus (Batch 2005) and student leader, also gave the editors a “refresher course” on building a vision, mission and goals statement, which they utilized later on in constructing Stallion’s new Vision, Mission and Goals statement and slogan.

“In all my three years of working for Stallion, I’ve learned that not everything goes according to plan. However, I see these problems not as factors that should hinder progress, but rather as challenges that the Ed Board must face because writing is only the first step to good journalism,” said Josh Lam, the incoming Editor-in-Chief.
