Xavier School Joins Earth Hour

Xavier School will join the worldwide movement called Earth Hour on Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM  to highlight the issue of global warming.

voteearth_poster_c.jpgCities around the world will briefly go dim Saturday evening as the lights of buildings and landmarks are shut off for one hour to raise awareness about climate change. The event is organized by the conservation nonprofit World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to encourage people to conserve electricity and reduce greenhouse emissions.

voteearth_poster_i.jpgBegan last year in Sydney, the event generated such a tremendous response that WWF has decided to make it global this year. So far, 2,848 cities, towns and municipalities in 84 countries, including the Philippines, have already committed to VOTE EARTH for Earth Hour 2009, as part of the world’s first global election between Earth and global warming.

Xavier School encourages all Xavier families to participate. At the very least, keep lights to a minimum and unplug all appliances which will not result in any material damage or security risk.

Together, we can make a difference.
