Bandfest 2008

Bandfest judges Paul Yap, Armie Millare (Up Dharma Down bassist and vocalist, respectively), and Buhawi “Buwi” Meneses (Parokya ni Edgar bassist) decided to give five bandfest awards to five different classes.

H3B’s Martin Macasieb and Kaiser ChanH3B’s Chapter of My Life (lyrics by Timothy Chua, Miles Que, Julian Yao, Kurt Lim, Austin King, Nicanor Villasenor, and Timothy Tan, music by Martin Macasieb and Richard Chung, and arrangement by Kevin Garcia and Richard Chung) was named Best Song, considered the most important award of the event.

The annual bandfest is a culmination of the students’ lessons on J.D. Salinger’s H3F Bandpopular novel, Catcher in the Rye. In their homeroom classes, students, divided into groups of five or six, were tasked to write an original song that reflects one of the themes from the novel. The class then picked the best song among those written by the members of the class and put together a class band to perform the chosen song at the bandfest.

Other winners were H3D (Best Performance), H3F (3rd Overall Presentation), H3A (2nd Overall Presentation), and H3E (Best Overall Presentation).
