THE XAVIER FAMILY MASS: A New Tradition Begins

Family Mass Headline
This year Xavier School hopes to establish the tradition of the XAVIER FAMILY MASS, a monthly celebration of the Holy Eucharist for the entire community, starting with the Missioning Mass on 04 August 2007, Saturday, 5:30 p.m., at the Fr. Rafael Cortina Sports Center.

The succeeding Xavier Family Masses, organized in coordination with parents (XSPA), alumni (AAXS) and faculty (FACAMPA), shall be held on the first Saturday of each month. This monthly community celebration will help build stronger ties within the Xavier community and keep alive the Xavier spirit and ideals in every Xavier family. Moreover, through these Masses (anticipated Sunday Mass), we hope to encourage more members to pray together as one family and promote more regular attendance to Sunday Mass.

The theme for the Missioning Mass is “Xavier Family: Giving Light, Shining Bright!” This will be a concelebrated Mass led by Fr. Ismael Zuloaga, SJ, and will be highlighted by the traditional candle-lighting ceremony. The collections for this Mass shall be donated to the Chaplain’s Fund (under Fr. Maximo Barbero, SJ) of the Philippine General Hospital, which supports numerous indigent patients. To avoid traffic congestion, the sports center (Gate 4) and football field (Gate 8) will be opened for parking.

The organizers for this Mass are the Grade 4 & 7 parent year level representatives, together with the XSPA Spirituality & Outreach Committee. Snacks will be served after the Mass to give everyone an opportunity to socialize with each other. Students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff are all invited to participate in this Xavier Community celebration.
