November 17, 2007 was the schedule of an event that has been considered as one of the major highlights in the H3 student’s planner: the Xavier-Poveda interaction.Held annually for the past fourteen years between the two schools, this event provided the juniors a chance to interact and socialize with students of the opposite gender in a “moral Christian setting.”
Fr. Arturo Borja, kicked off the event with a Mass. The juniors from both schools gave thanks to God as one for having been given another opportunity to interact, meet some new friends, and most important of all, simply have fun.
The famed Archie comics influenced the theme of the whole interaction. Each group was named after a character from the said comics; for example, there were groups named “Midge” and “Moose”. The day was packed with activities planned by the tireless core group and facilitators from both schools. Juniors hardly had
any time to pause and catch their breaths as they proceeded from one venue to another.
Each activity on that day was designed to strengthen the bonds of each group and to promote camaraderie among the students. Some of the activities included games in the classroom and the ever-present scavenger hunt. The main highlight of the day was the presentations made by Little Miss Muffet, Issues on Addiction, and Poveda’s very own Emodicus, as well as two numbers delivered by Xavier and Poveda’s dance teams.
At the end of the day, everyone was absolutely exhausted, but it was not a waste for most. It could be seen from everyone’s faces that everyone had fun. It’s no wonder that this event has been held continuously for quite some time now.
