xavier-lts-070801jpg.JPGThe Xavier Leadership Training Seminar (XLTS) was held last November 23-24, 2007 at the Father Papilla Formation Center. The event gathered the student leaders from San Juan National High School and Saint John the Baptist Catholic School.

“This seminar was mainly for the benefit of the other two schools,” said Martin de Joya, Vice-President of Externals of the SC. Student leaders gathered together to learn more about the true meaning of leadership. xavier-lts-070802.JPGDuring the workshop, some Xavier faculty members delivered speeches, but everyone was surprised to see former president Joseph Estrada come up to the front to address the young leaders.

In his talk, he mentioned that a leader must show love of God, love of country, and love in the family. He asserted, “We should give priority to love of country. Once you [the student leaders] have that, I think you’ll all be good leaders.”

When asked how the XLTS helped their students, Mrs. Gonzales from Saint John the Baptist Catholic School responded, “The seminar is good, very informative. My Student Council officers got a lot from the seminar.” Mrs. Tuason from San Juan National High School added,xavier-lts-070803.JPG “Informative. I believe that the leaders will be more equipped for the challenges.”

Leaders from different schools can learn from one another. The bonds that the student leaders formed with each other will only be tested through time.

The seminar served as training for the students to maximize their capabilities in leadership. During the December 5 HS general assembly, Xaverians who took part in this activity were given recognition for the time and effort they put to make the project a success.
