Sophomore Slam Sonnets

Last March 3, the English sections of H2 participated in the Sophomore Sonnet Slam as part of the celebrations for World Read Aloud Day organized by Lit World. Grade 6 Recollection: A Commitment to the Community

Xavier School Fetes 2010 Exemplary Alumni

The Board of Trustees conferred the Xavier-Kuangchi Exemplary Alumni Award to Col. Ernesto Ravina, Jr. (’79) and Dr. Kelly Salvador (’78) last March 13, 2010, at the MPC. Witnessed by some two hundred alumni, batchmates, administrators, former teachers, students, family, and friends, the two awardees received their medals and delivered their acceptance speeches to a warm reception. It has been a long held fact that Xavier has never had a lack of talents in the performing arts. These talents were once again showcased last February 26 at the Multi-Purpose Center for the much-anticipated A.M.D.G., an art exhibit and concert. Good Evening, I want to start by thanking our Good Lord for giving me the opportunity to serve his people, people who are lost, people who see no future, people who see no hope. It’s not that I can perform miracles; but rather I can walk and stand with them, hand in hand, to lead them to a future where they can be loving and caring Christians who will receive their rewards from our Heavenly Father. It is indeed the greatest honor to be chosen as one of this year’s exemplary alumni. Despite the military medals, awards and decorations that I wear on my chest, this award gives me the greatest pride. Why? Because it is closest to the heart. I say this, plainly and simply,  because the award came from Xavier School. It is an honor, not given by the Armed Forces; a medal, not  bestowed by an awards board who read a write-up of my deeds, and objectively approved the citation.  But on a truly personal note, this award is a recognition that came from home. For indeed, Xavier is my home; it  is our home; it is where we were shaped and nurtured to what all of us graduates have become today. Read the rest of this entry »

Director’s Message at the Groundbreaking for XS Nuvali

The dream of Xavier School Nuvali was hatched 14 years ago, in 1996, when Ambassador Benny Tan and the late Fr. Gene Moran requested our alumni to meet about the possibility of opening a second Xavier School. In September of that year, the late Fr. Louis Papilla met with that first group of alumni—a group that included Mike Tan, Carlos Chung, Harry Chua, Alex Ty, Art Dy, Maning Uychiaoco, Rudy Ang, Dobbin Tan, and Johnip Cua.
