Last January 14, approximately 80 parents from all sections from Grades 1 to 7 spent their morning in the Grade 7 classrooms for a seminar-workshop on Singapore Math. What many expected to be a close encounter between two unbeaten teams turned out to be a horrendous blowout. Two-time defending champion Xavier School stamped its class and demolished St. Jude Catholic School, 91-55, Wednesday night (January 27) in a Juniors Division match-up in the 40th Freego Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association tournament held at the Chiang Kai Shek gym in Tondo, Manila. The EDSOR Peace Camp 2010 was a salad of activities- from inspirational talks to application skits- all underlining one word often taken in the context of the past, but terribly needed in the present: patriotism. Last December 18 - 20, 2009, 15 of Xavier’s Chinese teachers attended the 8th Southeast Asian Chinese Language Teaching Convention at the Century Park Sheraton. Over 250 Chinese Language educators from eight Asia-Pacific countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Burma, Philippines, Brunei and with the special participation of China, gathered to share the techniques used in promoting Chinese Language teaching and to illustrate how studying the Chinese culture can be the best way to learn the Chinese language.
