DENGUE FEVER and DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER are acute febrile diseases found in the tropics caused by four closely related virus serotypes of the genus flavivirus (DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 and DEN4) Family Flaviviridae. Infection with one of these serotypes does not provide cross-protective immunity, so persons living in a dengue-endemic area can have four dengue infections during their lifetime. The Spirit of Corregidor

Last May 11, 2009, the Grade School Social Studies department, chaired by Ms. Cita Carluen , went on an educational trip to the historic island of Corregidor. It was a very beautiful day for travel. XS Artist’s Work Sold in MANILA ART ’09’s Auction

Xavier School’s graphic artist Simkin de Pio’s work “A Date with Uncle Sam” (under the wing of Ricco-Renzo Galleries) was sold in MANILART ‘09’s  auction last Saturday night, July 18 at the NBC tent, The Fort. JBEC Honors 16 Icons in Basic Education

The Jesuit Basic Education Commission (JBEC) presented 16 Jesuits and lay educators with the Sinag Ng Karunungan Sesquicentennial Leadership Recognition Award for their outstanding leadership and service in Jesuit basic education. Among those honored were Xavier School’s Ms. Jenny H. Go, former GS and HS Principal and the first lay administrator of a Jesuit school in the Philippines, and Fr. My Epiphany

It took me seven months before I finally began to understand this mystery to which I have been called.

Like any proud person coming from a privileged family, I was confident that I could do so much for my new students at ERDA Technical and Vocational High School. My confidence was rooted in my Jesuit education at Ateneo de Manila, and my five-year teaching experience at Xavier School, one of the leading educational institutions in Metro Manila. Fr. Mena’s First Death Anniversary

fr-santos-mena.jpgThe Xavier School community offers prayers for Fr. Santos Mena, SJ, who passed away last year, July 14, 2008. He is remembered for his many contributions to the school, particularly by generations of alumni whom he served as guidance counselor. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1947 and was ordained priest on March 18, 1962. Rest in peace!
