Over 40 students from Grade 5 - High 4 participated in the Xavier China Experience scheduled during the summer break. This XCE program was held at the Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College and included classes in language and organized cultural activities. One of the best experiences a kid like me could have is the Xavier China Experience (XCE). This school program is exclusive to Xavier School boys. This year the teacher supervisors were Mrs. Jenny Say, Ms. Rina Beredo, Mrs. Nikki Yen, Ms. Daisy Zhou, and Mrs. Yolly Reyes, who are really responsible people. Our XCE was held at the Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College where we studied and stayed in a dorm. We arrived in Beijing last March 30, 2009 and started an experience I will never forget. Batch 79 sponsored the April Xavier Family Mass last April 4 in celebration of Palm Sunday. Originally set at the Sacred Heart Patio, the Mass was held at the Angelo King MPC since rains were forecast for the entire Holy Week. The Mass was preceded by a Lenten recollection preached by Fr. Johnny Go, immediately followed by confessions. Batch 79, which turns 30 this year, invited several of their former teachers to the Mass and to the buffet dinner held at the HS MPH.

Xavier’s swimming sensation, Axel Ngui, recently competed in the 2009 Indian Ocean All-Stars Challenge (April 11-12) in Australia with an impressive medal haul of 5 golds, 2 silvers, and 2 bronzes. Axel, an incoming junior, competed in the MEN 15-16 bracket. He competed as a guest member of the San Beda swimming team that represented the Philippines. Last February 18, 2009, High 3 students were given a chance to learn more about their career interests when they participated in the High 3 Career Bazaar held at Xavier School. The event showcased a host of impressive speakers in various fields of work like Animation (Mr. Aisaku Yokigawa of iAcademy), Architecture (Arch. Christopher Chan, XS ‘96), Communications (Paul Yan, ‘84), Culinary Arts (Mrs. Cordova of the American Hospitality Academy), Dentistry (Dr. Jerome Alcazaren), Education (Mr. Exxon Ryan Yu, ‘97), Engineering (Engr. Juniors embarked on a journey to the post-war remnants of Corregidor on February 13, 2009. Students gathered very early at the High School Gym, departing around 6:15 am for the CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines) Bay Terminal, where they boarded the ferry to Corregidor. The X-Shop Home Bazaar, held during the school fair last Feb. 7-8 at the HS Pelota Court, raised over P310K from the sale of new and used goods donated by Xavier families.
