今年九月十八日，从以色列大使馆的雅尼夫先生 (Mr. Yaniv) 来到光启学校, 在英语课上向中四英文资优班的学生们介绍以色列的历史及文化。英语资优班的课堂主题就是犹太大屠杀, 因而特别邀请了他。 几天以前，英语资优班的薇薇安·欧嵌坡老师 (Mrs. Vivian Ocampo) 安排学生们唱一首歌给雅尼夫先生听，唱的是一首关于人们团结真美妙的歌。雅尼夫先生对学生们讲了很多, 比如: 他介绍了有关以色列的人口、陆地面积，宗教和一些社会现状。然后，他也讲了关于他对于犹太大屠杀、歧视等其他争论问题的一些看法和观点。介绍完之后, 学生们问了他一些问题；雅尼夫先生很高兴地作以回答。下课的时候，学生们给了雅尼夫先生几件礼物，因为他花时间来光启学校给学生讲他们国家的文化及历史。
光启学校社会科学部主任俄克森、中文部余主任和一些老师也参与了这次活动。大家都认真仔细地听讲，因为那是一个很难得的机会，实在是特别。
“我希望菲律宾和以色列会很亲密地沟通、交流、合作。”这是雅尼夫先生的话，也是我们的期盼。

Congratulations to Vlademir Reyes Batch ‘73 who was appointed last 18th August as General Manager of the Peninsula Manila. He is the first Filipino to hold the top post in this hotel, and only the third Filipino ever appointed as GM of an international deluxe five-star hotel in the Philippines. There are a lot of pressures going on in the lives of our teens right now. They may be pressured to do things they may not want to do, and these may include taking alcohol, smoking cigarettes or using drugs.
A heartfelt “Thank you” to all the men and women who give their best each day for Xavier School and its students! This year’s celebration will feature a talent competition which will showcase the star potentials of several brave and talented members of the faculty and staff. To our teachers, administrators, and support staff: Maraming salamat at Mabuhay!
